Drew Estate Liga Undercrown Robusto

After having taken some time off for both illness as well as financial reasons I decided for my first review back on expedition Vitola I wanted to do a cigar that I had been been anticipating for some time, so I chose to review to the Drew Estate Liga Undercrown.

On first appearance of this cigar in the humidor at Habana Port Cigar Merchants I immediately noticed the beautiful dark brown wrapper rich oily appearance and the elegant band with the deep royal blue and gold crest really draws the eye.

I have been a big fan of drew estates premium cigar line of Liga Privada no.9 and t-52 and according to some sources the Underground is an attempt to making a nonlimited edition version of the Liga Privada. Drew Estate's official word that it is a blend created, not in the tastig room, but on the factory floor by the rollers themselves. The story is that they were told that they had to stop smoking up the expensive Liga Privadas and came up with a less expensive alternative using a similar blend with a less expensive San Andreas wrapper. Either way, the Undercrown is a exemplary cigar.

I am most definitely going to have to get more of the Undercrowns. This was absolutely fantastic cigar, I don't know if I would put the cigar in the same category as the outstanding Liga Privada No. 9, one of my favorite cigars, but it is definitely an excellent cigar at a more reasonable price point. I definitely will smoke more in days to come.

The heralded Expedition: Vitola’s triumphant return!

Ok, just kidding.  But Expedition Vitola is back, and with a whole new look.

The new navigation perfecto to the left can be used to access the archive of blog posts as well as a gallery of cigar photos and other material on my Flikr account and links to share E:V! on Facebook and Twitter.

I will be posting new reviews soon, and I hope you enjoy.
